Atmire is pleased to support the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) with the launch of OAsis, its new institutional repository hosted on Open Repository.

The Commonwealth of Learning is an intergovernmental organisation of The Commonwealth, headquartered in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Since its founding in 1987 by Commonwealth Heads of Government, COL has worked collaboratively with governmental and non-governmental organizations, institutions across the Commonwealth, and international development agencies. Its core mission is to promote the use of open learning and distance education knowledge, resources, and technologies to expand access to quality learning opportunities.

OAsis serves as the central platform for sharing COL’s wide range of publications and educational resources. All content is openly licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International, allowing for free download, reuse, and adaptation with proper attribution to COL (except where otherwise indicated).

As part of the project, COL’s existing in-house DSpace repository was successfully migrated to Open Repository on DSpace. Given COL’s international role, GDPR compliance was a critical requirement, and Atmire ensured full alignment with global data protection standards.

We’re proud to support COL in its mission to make learning more accessible across the Commonwealth and beyond.
