Organization Description

Founded in 1964, the Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale is a public institution with a scientific and technological focus, under the joint supervision of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Research.
The Inserm is the only public research organization in France that is entirely dedicated to human health. Starting from 2008, they were given the responsibility to ensure the strategical, scientific and operational coordination of biomedical reasearch. This role as coordinator was granted by the scientific quality of its teams but also by its ability to ensure translational research results from the laboratory to the patient’s bed.
The Département de l’Information Scientifique et de la Communication (DISC) at the Inserm offers researchers the documentation they require, brings to the attention of the partners and the general public the results of the work within the institute and ensures the distribution of information to different parties.

Project Introduction

@mire has developed a platform requested by the IST branch of the DISC, in partnership with INIST/CNRS, for the publication and distribution of the scientific output of the Inserm. The objectives of this platform are to sustain and enhance the collections of documents based on the accumulated experience of the international community of research and higher education and to improve the distribution of these documents due to the use of international metadata formats. The project is a three year project that started in 2010 with two main development phases and a long term warranty and support agreement.
