The University of British Columbia, established in 1908, educates a student population of 50,000 on major campuses in two cities and holds an international reputation for excellence in advanced research and learning. The university of British Columbia teaches 44,982 students at UBC campus Vancouver and 5,350 students at UBC campus Okanagan. U.B.C. employs a total faculty and staff of 13,622 people, of which 4,669 Faculty, research, and associated and 2,894 in Management.

Aside from an upgrade to DSpace version 1.5.1, a number of additional features and customizations were implemented by @mire. Customization of the UBC DSpace repository resulted in changes to the Administrative and Submission workflows to support embargo functionality. The addition of @mire products created new workflow processes for Statistics, Reporting, Metadata Management and Audio-visual streaming. @mire provided a 2 day onsite training course on this new functionality for UBC Librarians.
