Lessius is an internationally oriented university college and offers multiple degree and tailor-made programmes in the fields of Engineering, Business Studies, Languages and Journalism, Psychology, Technology, Speech Language Therapy and Audiology.

Lessius is located on four campuses in and around the city of Antwerp, which has the second largest port in Europe and is the world centre of the diamond trade.

Introduction

To optimally disseminate the scientific output of the institution online, Lessius Hogeschool opted for the introduction of an Institutional Repository, based on DSpace software. @mire assisted the different layers of management in assessing their needs, and developing an Institutional Repository strategy.

Customizations

@mire imported existing bibliographical data into DSpace, and matched authors with staff database information, that was afterwards validated by the research staff. The existing DSpace interface has been customized to fit the institution's style guidelines. @mire also integrated the DSpace repository with the institution's HR management system to allow author and organizational unit identification.

Training

For Lessius, @mire constructed a 1 day custom onsite training program, targeted at training DSpace repository administrators.
