The new Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel (HUBrussel) is the first institute of higher education that houses both a college (professional higher education) and a university (academic education). It offers the best of both, e.g. excellent student counseling, a well-developed research culture, the analytical approach to a literature study, or the business-oriented ways of a school of economics.

The Academic Education division is based around three faculties: Faculty of Economics and Management, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Linguistics and Literature The Professional Education division is based around four schools: School of Commercial Sciences and Management, School of Education, School of Health Care, School of Social & Community Work.

Customizations

The repository project at Hogeschool Universiteit Brussel had audacious goals. First of all, the repository was intended as an institutional repository, providing access to publications and other public scientific output of the institute. At the same time, the system had to fulfill the function of internal research information system, storing more private research related information, intended for reporting and evaluation. With customizations such as embargoÕs on files and confidential metadata fields, @mire succeeded in the realization of this dual approach ... well under 2 months of development. @mire presented it's approach and experiences related to this project at Open Repositories 2008.
