At the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp, an institutional repository, based on DSpace was introduced by the library services. Through the repository, the library wants to offer additional service to
the staff members of the institute and promote Open Access. @mire provided technical training to the library staff and guided the process to import legacy data from an old ASCII format. At the same time, @mire
increased the usability of the system through some small but effective customizations.
These customizations include:
- making file upload during the submission process optional, instead of mandatory
- optimisation of the sorting of search and browse result sets
- enabling alphabetic sorting on author names in certain result sets
- enabling searches based on date ranges
- modification of the advanced search pages, using dropdown lists instead of free text fields
- enabling users to choose their preferred number of results (in search and browse lists)
In the first quarter of 2009, the installation was upgraded to DSpace 1.5.1 JSP UI. Furthermore, a specific OAI-PMH crosswalk was developed to ensure full compliance with DRIVER 2.0 guidelines.
